The following resources can help educators assess student learning through the use of technology. We have separated the assessment tools into two categories: academic and behavioral. The assessment tools for academic knowledge and skills provide immediate feedback to the teacher, and have the ability to share performance data to students as well. Most of these tools can be used to conduct both formative and summative assessments. The increasing emphasis on data-driven instruction makes these tools particularly well suited for educators looking for tools that enable them to collect data on student performance in engaging and effective ways.
Student Clicker- The student edition consists of smart clicker technology in a student response system. Individual assessment, small group, or whole class engagement is possible, enabling you to gauge your students' progress after a lesson. This format works on mobile devices, tablets, and in both Windows and Mac.
Teacher Clicker- The teacher edition enables you to collect and review data in real time. Once all students have completed the assessment, teacher edition allows you to export student data into an excel spreadsheet. Import quizzes directly from Excel, or create within the app. Multiple choice, open response, etc.
Lecture tools enables you to embed functions within PPT presentations. As you students view your presentation, they can indicate slides that are confusing, ask questions, respond to questions, and much more. This is a paid software, but a trial version exists.
Increasingly, e-portfolios have become an effective way by which to measure the development of student knowledge and skills. The portability of the digital work products is a desirable method of demonstrating students growth over the length of an entire course.
